At the end of November, the consortium of the CINEA-funded BATTwin project held its regular quarterly live meeting, on which researchers from HUN-REN SZTAKI also participated.

The rEUman Horizon project, focused on remanufacturing, is coordinated by Politecnico di Milano, while HUN-REN SZTAKI contributes to the project through its expertise in modelling, design, robotic solutions, and automation. The fourth project conference took place at the Institute between 24–25 November 2025, with a primary emphasis on recent results and the current progress of the project.

As part of the collaboration between HUN-REN and Nanyang Technological University (NTU Singapore), HUN-REN SZTAKI hosted Prof. Paulo Bartolo, head of the Singapore Centre for 3D Printing (SC3DP), and his colleague, Dr. Cian Vyas, on 21 November 2025

The SOCCER (Security Operation Centres Capacity building for European Resilience) project, a key European initiative co-funded by the European Union, today announced it has reached its 24-month milestone, entering a critical new phase of validation for its innovative cyber security software, the Security Hub. This marks a significant step forward in the project's mission to strengthen Europe's cyber defence capabilities.

Researchers Gyula Sólyom and Gergely Kuna from the System and Control Laboratory of HUN-REN SZTAKI (Institute for Computer Science and Control) have successfully conducted a live demonstration of a hydrogen-powered multicopter drone at the Hungarian Defence Forces’ Ócsa Training Base.

József Váncza, Head of the Research Laboratory on Engineering & Management Intelligence, together with two senior researchers from the laboratory, Balázs Csanád Csáji and András Kovács, participated in a three-day visit to the Singapore Centre for 3D Printing (SC3DP) at Nanyang Technological University (NTU) between 8 and 10 October 2025. The visit took place within the framework of the joint artificial intelligence research collaboration between HUN-REN and NTU.

László Palkovics, Government Commissioner for Artificial Intelligence, and Árpád Pikéthy, Head of IBM Hungary, jointly announced the launch of the Quantum and Supercomputing Platform at the 16th Infotér conference. The strategically important Platform, of which HUN-REN SZTAKI is a founding member, aims to place Hungary at the forefront of quantum technology and AI.

HUN-REN SZTAKI welcomed the partners of GreenDIGIT in Budapest for the mid-term All Hands Μeeting, where the collaboration reflected on progress, exchanged insights, and aligned on the next steps for the project.

On October 17, 2025, a delegation from the French Institute of Budapest visited HUN-REN SZTAKI to learn about the Institute’s scientific activities and demonstrations.

Europe has joined the world’s elite club in supercomputing: JUPITER, the first supercomputer to surpass exaflops of computing power in Europe, will soon be supporting scientific research and the use of AI. At the ceremonial inauguration event, Tamás Máray, Deputy Head of the Laboratory of Parallel and Distributed Systems at HUN-REN SZTAKI, and a member of the EuroHPC Steering Committee, represented the related domestic initiatives.

The National Laboratory for Water Science and Water Security and the National Laboratory for Artificial Intelligence (MILAB), coordinated by HUN-REN SZTAKI, held a joint full-day professional event on September 29, 2025, in the Main Hall of HUN-REN SZTAKI.

Levente Kocsis, Senior Research Fellow at HUN-REN SZTAKI, was a guest on Tilos Radio’s program Természetes intelligencia: micsoda világ!, where he discussed his 2006 publication that propelled the development of AI algorithms used in Go games.
