Study and realize a demonstrator of a multichannel, multistatic single receiver configuration for Array Passive Radar, making use of digital signals of opportunity (e.g. DVB-T, UMTS, OFDM radar). The passive radar can exploit multiple frequency channels of the same illuminator of Opportunity (IO) (e.g. different DVB-T channels) and/or multiple IOs located in different positions and operating in the same band (DVB-T repeaters) and/or other possible combinations. Terrestrial, airborne and space borne platforms will be taken into account.
Define and implement an adaptive SAP-ISAR processing technique (Space Adaptive Processing- Inverse Synthetic Aperture Radar). SAP is used to filter out direct signal, direct multipath interference, jammer and hot clutter (direct signals and their multipath coming from other signal sources than the reference one) and spatially correlated clutter to have high level Signal to Disturbance. New ISAR algorithms will be developed and applied to the SAP filtered signals. The ISAR algorithm is studied for the most general case of multistatic multichannel operating conditions (multiple IOs with multiple frequency channels and a single array passive radar receiver). Autofocus techniques based on contrast optimization function will be implemented. Image reconstruction algorithms based on sub-aperture synthesis or advanced spectral analysis technique for Inverse Fourier Transform of a sparse sampling of the target reflectivity function in the spatial frequency domain (as data set of a passive radar is) will be implemented. ISAR imaging with single channel and airborne moving platform in circular trajectory will be also studied.
