KOPI-NETx
Department in charge
The Goal of the KOPI-NET project will be to develop a plagiarism search system, and to make the basic research i.e. the analysis of the algorithms required for this.
The project analyses the possible ways of continuing the KOPI Online Plagiarism Search and Information Portal project. The main goal of the research is to discover how this system could work in a distributed environment, with multiple maintainers in a homogenous way, while providing transparent search capabilities for its users. With such a system in use, it would be possible to connect digital libraries, university systems, collections, corporate databases, newspapers, etc. and one could search effectively for similar and duplicate documents in the whole system.
The new system will be built on open standards, reducing the costs of connecting to it, which this way could be easily achieved by all larger digital collections in Hungary. The owners of the documents of connected institutes can make their documents accessible by a much larger audience than before, because the plagiarising of these documents could be detected in no time, making plagiarism very risky. With the aid of this system, collections that are not yet public could be accessed by a wide audience, because KOPI-NET would guard the rights of the original authors of the intellectual properties.
