Secure resource sharing technology in cyber-physical production systems

In collaboration with Hitachi’s Manufacturing Technology Research Center (Japan) and Fraunhofer IPA (Germany), researchers of the Engineering and Management Intelligence Laboratory took part in the development of a secure resource sharing technology for geographically dispersed production facilities.

The system facilitates the allocation of resources among multiple enterprises by appropriate communication protocols and encrypting key information on production quantities and machining process. Hence, it is possible to utilize the production facilities of other enterprises as if they were owned while maintaining confidentiality of manufacturing information and thus securely share production facilities. The technology will be demonstrated as a use case of the Japanese Robot Revolution Initiative also at the CeBIT exhibition, in Hannover, Germany, 20-24 March, 2017.
