GreenDIGIT project enters the second phase in Budapest

HUN-REN SZTAKI welcomed the partners of GreenDIGIT in Budapest for the mid-term All Hands Μeeting, where the collaboration reflected on progress, exchanged insights, and aligned on the next steps for the project.

The three-year-long GreenDIGIT is a Horizon Europe project that approaches the problem of reducing the environmental impact of Research Infrastructures (RIs) from a generic conceptual point of view by addressing all major factors that define and influence the RI environmental and climate impact.

HUN-REN SZTAKI leads the work package called ‘Technology enablers for energy efficiency in Research Infrastructure’, which focuses on:

  • creating (multi-level) machine-learning based model for optimising energy, performance, cost for the whole chain from IoT/far-edge to Edge and cloud
  • defining resource selection algorithm(s) that consider the environmental impact of HTC, HPC, Cloud, Container, AI, Storage, and Network resources
  • defining methodologies and algorithms for automated end-to-end orchestration
  • elaborating a power-grid conscious task scheduling system for compute centres.

The two-day program contained presentations from work package and task leaders, discussions on challenges and opportunities and a shared commitment to the project’s mission.
