HunCERT - operated by SZTAKI - held communications training on simulated cyberattack

HunCERT held a three-day long communications training that began on the 19th of October. After simulating attacks against service providers’ web servers, emergence of phishing pages aiming the pandemic situation had also been simulated. Experts measured the rapidness of reaction times during attack.

Main goals were to update and examine the information chain used by HunCERT, and also to practice the procedure in action, while strengthening the CERT-role of HunCERT in the sector. Training was held with the participation of invited members, and contractors of the Council of Internet Providers (ISZT), a sum total of 41 participants. This year’s test was not preceded by an official announcement to measure as legit reactions as possible.

The training was successful, participants reacted in large number and rapid manner. It was concluded that the communications channels that were nursed by personal meetings with providers worked the best way.

HunCERT is already planning to reach out to other CERT’s for discussion if results while also looking forward to hold upcoming tests.
