The first HunCERTalks meetup at HUN-REN SZTAKI was a success
The topic of the cybersecurity meetup focused on the illegal use of personal data and images. The event was co-organized by ISZT and HunCERT, featuring presentations from experts at HUN-REN SZTAKI, HunCERT, MOL, HUN-REN TKI, Forpsi and Aruba Cloud, as well as NMHH.
Ernő Rigó, head of the Department of Network Security and Internet Technologies at HUN-REN SZTAKI, discussed high-profile abuses from recent years, using practical examples to demonstrate how fraudsters can creatively exploit seemingly innocent public content, such as press photos or Facebook profiles.
András Kolbert, cybersecurity awareness specialist at the MOL Group, outlined five key points to enhance general user awareness, emphasizing that experts should be more tolerant toward users, and that training tailored to users’ own levels is essential.
Kitti Mezei, a lawyer at HUN-REN TK and MILAB, spoke about the current state of cybersecurity and defense regulation, addressing practical difficulties in implementing a relatively detailed legal framework and highlighting frequent misunderstandings, such as that GDPR applies not only to companies but also to individuals.
Jolán Vargáné Parrag, representative head of Forpsi and Aruba Cloud, shared procedural examples from the provider side, illustrating how to collaborate with authorities and discussing solutions for addressing domains that host potentially illegal or questionable content.
Dorina Csalár, head of the NMHH Internet Hotline, presented practical steps available to victims, showing the types of issues brought to them by victims of online abuses. She highlighted that they had achieved results in the Motherless case, which was one of the meetup's focal points.
