Developing a New Online Platform for More Effective Management of Functional Abdominal Pain in Teenagers
Functional abdominal pain disorder affects approximately 11.9% of teenagers in our country, yet the issue often goes untreated despite the existence of multiple therapeutic approaches. Many of the available treatments are difficult to access, costly, or lack the capacity for broader application.
To address this gap, researchers from several institutions — including HUN-REN SZTAKI, the Bethesda Children’s Hospital Pain Management Center, and other partners — are collaborating to compare the effectiveness of in-person and online treatment methods. The online platform will integrate a range of therapeutic approaches, such as hypnosis and movement-motivation training, to expand the treatment options available to teenagers.
The new platform aims to make various therapeutic solutions more accessible for teenagers and their families. The online treatment options will be customizable to ensure tailored support, potentially improving pain management outcomes.
This initiative seeks to create a modern healthcare model that integrates accessible therapeutic solutions in an online format, thereby enhancing healthcare accessibility and support for young people.
The Bethesda Children’s Hospital presented the initial results from this research at the 13th Congress of the Hungarian Pediatric Gastroenterology Association.
