Róbert Lovas, deputy director of SZTAKI talked about the role of ELKH Cloud in fighting COVID-19
Róbert Lovas presented online during the December Science Meetup event to talk about the details of how SZTAKI and Wigner Research Centre for Physics were using ELKH Cloud to model the spread of the coronavirus.
SZTAKI and Wigner Research Centre for Physics – with the support of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences – offered their scientific cloud to fight the pandemic, calling thousands of CPUs and terabytes of memory for duty.
Scientists of the Szentágothai Research Center were able to migrate research task into cloud within a day by the help of SZTAKI. “This was a very-very fast process, it happened during the weekend” – said Róbert Lovas –
“The modelling process was sped up by 50. This was a real cooperation.”
