Research data management and Open Science - HRDA virtual meetup

Dr. László Kovács (SZTAKI Department of Distributed Systems) gave a presentation on Data Repositories on the 4th event in the HRDA meetup-series.

HRDA (Hungarian RDA) is the Hungarian node of RDA (Research Data Alliance) which was established by SZTAKI (as the Coordinator), the Library and Information Centre of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences (MTA KIK), HUNOR Association and the Governmental IT Development Agency (KIFÜ) in 2019 autumn. The aim of HRDA is to promote data-sharing and data-driven research, and speed up the adoptation of all necessary standards it needs.

László Kovács briefly introduced the present status of research data handling, then provided detailed information about modern repository functions, the requirements regarding such repositories and how these needs could be met. He also talked about data-driven science, giving an outline of the infrastructure needed for scientific data management, repositories, repository infrastructures building upon each other, and data handling services.

Initiatives already in progress - Open Science Initiative and EOSC (European Open Science Cloud) - and their expected outcomes were also discussed at the event.
